Join us for this year’s Women of Distinction: Big Hat Brunch, a celebration of empowerment, community, and style! The event will be held at Cashion 506 Banquet Hall, with parking available in the garage or visitor parking.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their most fabulous hats and take part in the Big Hat Show-Off, a fun opportunity to showcase creativity and elegance. Throughout the event, you’ll learn about the impactful work of Esther’s Closet, hear inspiring stories from empowered women, and connect with community members dedicated to uplifting one another.
The Women of Distinction: Big Hat Brunch is more than just a stylish gathering—it’s Esther’s Closet’s annual fundraiser, ensuring that our program can continue to uplift and empower women in our community. We wear hats as a symbol of boldness and confidence, reflecting the courage it takes to step into new opportunities. For nine years,
Esther’s Closet has served over 1,000 women, supporting them as they transition into new careers and educational opportunities. Through professional workwear, resume assistance, mock interviews, resource navigation, mentoring, and now workforce programming. We help women navigate the resources and tools necessary to succeed,
creating custom pathways tailored to their unique goals—because success looks different for every woman, and we’re here to support her journey, her way. This event is both fun and deeply meaningful—a space where community members come together, celebrate resilience, and witness the pivotal work happening at Esther’s Closet. All are invited to
attend, connect, and champion the future of women in the workforce. Your support makes all the difference.
2025 Essence of Esther Award Winner
Mackenzie Olvera
Mackenzie Olvera began her life in Atlanta, Georgia, where both her parents immigrated from Mexico in 1999. She moved with her family to Waco in 2019. Since she arrived in Waco, she was embraced by the culture and the impact the woman and minority community has in our city, and understood that this was a place for empowerment and enrichment. Building a friendly and inviting image while maintaining positive relationships with business and visitors throughout the Greater Waco Area has been her goal here since day one. Discovering Esther’s Closet has been a transformative journey for her, igniting personal growth and a deep commitment to uplifting others. She is now dedicated to using her platform to empower individuals within the community, offering support, encouragement, and practical tools for success. Honored to receive the 2025 Essence of Esther Award, Mackenzie thanks her family and remains committed to showing other young women that anything is possible when you believe in yourself. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and dancing cumbia with her husband.
